We have been saddened by so many stories from couples who did not get the quality, quantity or type of images they were led to expect from their selected professional photographer. We have read countless stories like this. “We were posed so awkward and didn’t have any fun getting our pictures taken” , “we were constantly waiting on our photographer”, “it’s been 6 months since our wedding and we still don’t have our photos”, “most of our photographers images didn’t turn out good”, “He missed half of the family portraits we requested”, “the lighting is really bad”, “the reception photos are all dark”, “they didn’t back up our images properly and lost everything”, etc… True accounts from real people who can never get their wedding day back!
Some brides and grooms hire a “friend who does great photography” or someone fresh out of photography school because that is all their budget affords. If this is your reality, you should expect significantly less from your photographer. It is only logical to assume that certain moments will be accidentally missed, that unexpected scheduling changes on your day may throw them off, that either their equipment won’t be high quality or perhaps they won’t know how to use it fully, their business model rough, and customer service a bit unpredictable. In most cases they simply will not be able to consistently produce the beautiful images that experiencd photographers can. They might be the most well intentioned person, and perhaps they have a bright photography future ahead, but today they still have lots to learn. You will likely get exactly what you paid for. However many couples with a higher photography budget still end up disappointed.
Every wedding presents unique challenges and the moments keep rolling, no matter what. Not every #weddingphotographer is equipped to deliver amazing or even satisfactory results regardless of what they charge. So what’s an engaged couple planning their dream wedding to do?
