Mark and Liz came to Kelowna from Ft. McMurray Alberta for their Okanagan Destination Wedding at Summerhill Pyramid Winery. We have been dying to share their photos because this day was truly amazing! You could not find two more gracious and caring people in all the world. Their incredible love for each other, and every person involved in their lives and attending their wedding, made every moment extra special. It was a day full of laughter, lots of tears, and incredible photo opportunities at every turn!
An A list team of wedding vendors came together for this beautiful event. Read the full post to find their information and see some of the most beautiful decor, detail and talent imaginable!
One of the most beautiful things at this wedding was Mark’s two children who were so excited for their dad to marry Liz. They clearly love her so very much. The awesome photo above was sketched by 14 year old Ella as a gift to Liz. She is a total gem! We were very touched that Mark and Liz made the kids their best man and maid of honour.
Before leaving Manteo Resort, where the couple had gotten ready, Mark and Liz did a secret gift exchange on either side of a doorway. Jewelry from him, a special photo album from her!
So many touching moments had already happened at this point, we were all so very excited for the ceremony. Before walking down the isle I asked Liz’ parents how they felt about their daughter getting married. Never have you seen two more excited and thankful parents, thrilled beyond words that their daughter had found such an amazing man to marry and family to pour her love into. You can really see their emotion in the black and white photo below – one of our favorites!
Like father like son! There were more than a few tears shed at this wedding. Mark’s dad, Liz’s dad, Ethan their son, Mark, Liz, family and friends. There was just so much love in the air!
Just before their ceremony, a forest fire had broke out in the hillside across the lake. The sky turned quite a brilliant shade of swirling orange pink and blue, which made for a breathtaking backdrop in our photos!
Check out this stunning view of Okanagan lake from the vineyards at Summerhill.
Andy and I left Mark and Liz for a few quiet minutes alone to sneak in and take some more photos of the amazing reception space, with styling and decor by our friend Yuriko of Vintage Origami, florals by Crocus Floral Design, Stationery by Ginger Creative, and sweets by Sugar Sweet Cake Company. Everything was absolutely jaw dropping! Check it out.
And with that it was time to queue the party!
Haha, there was OH so much laughter at this reception. The MC’s came up with this awesome game called “Joey”. One of the couple’s friends who has quite the reputation of bringing a lot of laughter and quirkiness to their gatherings was at the wedding. The MC’s asked a series of questions to Mark and Liz, giving them each a “Joey” sign to hold. They each raised or lowered their sign in answer to questions about where they would want Joey tagging along. For example, “You are going on a date to the movies. Joey or no Joey?”. It was hillarious!
The real icing on the cake was a surprise choreographed dance that Mark and Liz performed in lieu of a traditional slow dance. It was the best dance we’ve ever seen. The crowd went wild! Our friend and videographer, Daniel of Daniel Abraham Films was there to capture it all. Watch the beautiful video below.
We wrapped up the evening with a little night session up at the Pyramid. Our lighting enabled us to do some out of the box things to make their photos extra special. It was warm, the sky was filled with stars. Such a great way to cap off the most amazing day ever! Congratulations again you two!
